As you may have noticed, I changed the name of this blog.
When I started this blog, it was the next chapter in a shopping blog I kept on Blogspot called Armoire of a Reverie. Dumb name…I know. I had a descent following on that site. Elizabeth McKay actually followed me. I was finishing up college and had loads of time and energy to put into mixing and matching things that I was wearing. It didn’t hurt that I had loads and loads of clothes back then.
Fast forward five years: I have moved 3 times and have taken on some pretty difficult jobs. With each move, I left things behind and changed what I was wearing to better fit what I was doing. It became exhausting to keep up the parade of outfits and accessories. It was exhausting to pack and unpack all of that mess every time I moved. I’m tired just thinking about packing all of that mess. (I’m still selling stuff, if you’re interested)
When I moved to this blog, I intended to focus on my gift for seeking out sales. I am signed up for just about every newsletter out there and I can almost feel it in my bones when a good sale is about to hit. I published notices about sales and posted show and tell pieces after I had shopped the sales myself. This was tough to keep up.
My shopping habits changed in a pretty noticeable way in the past year. Instead of mopping up at every great sale, I would pick up a few staple pieces. Plain stuff. Boring stuff. Bread and butter stuff. Stuff that doesn’t get readers excited. Basically… I got boring.
Sorry I’m not sorry!
I find myself gravitating towards more plain items now. I love items that can be worn with anything and I LOVE being able to grab something simple and not think too much about it. It is a pretty interesting change from what I was into only a few years ago. Layering necklaces and an abundance of color are just not my deal anymore.
So about the name…
What’s the deal?
What is my deal?
What’s the deal with this blog?
I don’t know.
Won’t you stick around to find out?
I apologize for being so absent. Moving and taking on a new job has been quite the whirlwind! That’s not all that has kept me away. Upon moving to rural NC, I discovered that my options for internet were terribly limited. I went 4 months without internet and I SURVIVED! This is my first evening with internet and, to be honest, I didn’t really miss it. There was the occasional need to check my email for work at night, but other than that I really didn’t miss it. I actually got a lot of work done around the house during my time unplugged. Moving forward, I pledge not to be glued to computer and the internet when I am at home.
Now for some updates:
- Threadflip is closed for biz. It was the best consignment app and website out there and I am sad it is gone. I have joined Poshmark and will be consigning items there moving forward.
- Naturally, I have been doing a good bit of shopping during my time offline and I will try to catch you up on my latest deals.
- Amazon saved Christmas. I am now an even bigger fan of Amazon. I joined Amazon Prime and I don’t know how I lived without it! That 2 day shipping is clutch. I would recommend it to anybody and everybody.
- I feel like there was something big to share, but I cannot remember at the moment because I am distracted by the Oscars. If I remember it, I will edit this post.
In closing… Check out my Poshmark Closet!
I’m putting in another plug for my Threadflip account.
I am so thankful that I signed up for Threadflip. It’s such a great way to trade in the old for some new. I have been selling gently used or new with tags items on Threadflip for about a year now and have had much success. Though I only get a little bit back from the sales, It beats dropping everything at Goodwill. I moved recently and being able to sell things I didn’t plan to take with me and use the money to buy moving boxes was fantastic.
The holidays are drawing near and I have seen an increase in sales. If you are looking to sell some of your old clothes, now is the time! Threadflip is not accepting clothes through their bag system right now due to the high volume of bags being sent in, but you can photograph and list the items yourself. I have done that a lot and the shipping process is very easy.
Check out my Threadflip account and stay tuned! I will be adding more items soon!
I have been cleaning out my closet and you can see what I have convinced myself to let go of. Check out my Threadflip closet here. I have just added items from Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Carolina Herrera and more! Here are two of my favorite items:
