The Five-Minute Journal

I visited my sister a few weekends ago (post on that trip forthcoming) and she gave me something that I didn’t realize I would treasure so dearly.
This little Five-Minute Journal changed my life.

Every morning you are tasked with listing the things you are grateful for and your aspirations for the day. At the end of the day you reflect and list the great things that happened and a few things that could be improved upon.

I have become a pretty negative person over the last couple of years and by simply writing these positive thoughts down in the morning and evenings, it has changed my whole outlook on life and really put things into perspective for me. It’s inexplicably and totally empowering.

I started writing in my journal the day I started selling Rodan + Fields so it’s especially interesting to look back even only a month on from my beginnings and see what I was thinking and hoping for.

Some of what I have been hoping for overall has changed. It’s odd to see your hopes and dreams written on a piece of paper that you then have to write over and over, day in and day out. Ultimately you want those hopes and dreams to become your reality and not just another page in a book. I won’t reveal what I’m working towards just yet, but I will be glad to share any good news that comes from my endeavors just as soon as I can.

If you are looking for a WONDERFUL gift for someone, order a copy of this journal.
Do yourself a favor and order a copy for you too.

ANOTHER YEAR OLDER

My family doesn’t really celebrate birthdays, but this year my sister’s engagement party fell on my birthday weekend and it was actually really great. I love parties and people don’t have birthday parties anymore. That needs to change.

We also don’t really do presents so it was really cool that I had a stack of presents to open. It really felt like Christmas.

I did something different this year. I sent out a link to an Amazon wish list so folks could get ideas for presents. As someone who has to come up with gifts for other people my age, it’s tough! Amazon makes it so easy to create and share products lists and I’m glad I gave it a try. From my wish list, I received the following:

  1. Amazon Basics Sound Bar: I have a really great TV, but the sound is really terrible. This Amazon Basics Sound Bar has changed that. It plugs in and clearly tells you what to do to the settings on your TV and it sounds great. It even connects to devices via bluetooth.
  2. Hunter Boot Inserts: I love my Hunter boots and wear them a lot. I have been layering many pairs of socks to keep my feet warm in them during the winter and these inserts keep me from having to do that. The cold comes straight up through the soles so this will provide a warm barrier between me and the ground. I can’t wait to wear them!
  3. Maglite LED flashlight: I needed a flashlight. I wanted a fancy flashlight. Why not make it red? I really love this flash light. Is that weird?

I continually update my Amazon wish list and if you would like to take a peek, click here.

BEAUFORT LINEN COMPANY

I have been following the Beaufort Linen Company on Instagram for about a year now and I so enjoy seeing all of the new things they bring into the store. Even though Beaufort, NC is on the far side of the State, I can still shop online.

Right now I am having a terrible time deciding on this poncho and this wrap. Both will make excellent gifts!
