Beauty & Essex

My sister’s soon to be sister-in-laws threw an incredible lingerie shower in New York last month and the venue and menu were of the chain.

The event was held in the wine room of Beauty & Essex, part pawn shop – part restaurant, and it was a full house. The menu was predetermined and featured what I imagine was the best of B&E’s regular menu. Course after course blew me away. Here’s how it went:

Course 1: Chocolate Croissants (I started out reserved and only had one.)

Course 2 – Bagels, Lox and fixin’s (Self control went out the window quickly. I had three. It goes downhill from there once you read what else hit the table)

Course 3 – Grilled Cheese with Smoked Bacon on top of Tomato Soup AND Avocado Toast

Course 4 – Baked Eggs & Grits AND Fried Chicken Biscuits with tabasco honey butter AND Double Smoked and Maple Cured Bacon

Course 5 – Doughnut holes with dipping sauces

Bonus – Rice Crispy treats with Crawford’s name on them in the goodie bags

I CLEANED some plates y’all. Zero manners used in he consumption of all foods beyond Course 1. I was an animal among dainty eaters. The cocktails were AMAZING also.
It may have been my first time at Beauty & Essex, but it will not be my last.

Going to Lulu Lemon in NYC is much more chill than going to Lulu Lemon in Charlotte. In NYC, they don’t try to over sell you and get you hyped up over leggings. They simply let you browse in peace and make a selection. It was refreshing.

I had just made a couple purchases from Lulu Lemon in Charlotte so I didn’t really need anything, but I did pick up a couple of headbands. I got the Fly Away Tamer Headband II in black and luon spray jacquard hunter green black. These headbands really stay in place and keep the wispies out of my face. I love them.

Over the weekend I went up to New York City to visit my sister and help her move into a new apartment on the other side of town. While organizing her new closet, I noticed quite a few cute pieces from Ann Taylor LOFT. I hadn’t looked at their website in a while, and when I pulled it up on my phone I saw that they happened to be having a 30% off of everything sale. I saw the words sale and it was game over.

I found two great halter tops that I will really enjoy wearing this summer. They can be dressed up or dressed down.

The Floral Embroidered Halter Cami was originally $54.50 but I paid $38.15.
The Gathered Halter Top was originally $34.50 (already a great deal) and I paid $24.15.

After taxes and shipping, I only paid $76.06. That’s pretty good! So many of my tops are beginning to look very tired so I needed a couple of fresh items to mix it up. There are a lot of cute things on there site and great deals to be had so check it out!

Last week my sister told me her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was dining at a restaurant with a client in NYC. The thief got hold of one credit card and had a wild time at Victorias Secret and Macy’s. The card was cancelled and the fraudulent charges have since been credited. It was upsetting because her personal space was violated, but she was very lucky that all of her important information was in a small card case she carries in her hand with her phone.

After she told me the story, I started looking for a little card case of my own. I hate carrying my wallet and purse with me all over the place where I work and I often need access to my cards when I am on the job. Having one of these little cases would be great. After looking at almost every site, I found the perfect case.

This Neiman Marcus Saffiano Leather Slim Card Case  was only $12.00! That’s a major steal! The card cases available on the Neiman Marcus regular website are $160.00 + ! So many other sites have the same look for $40.00 + and I just couldn’t justify spending so much on something so small and simple. Thanks to Neiman Marcus Last Call, I didn’t have to break the bank.
