Happy Valentines Day to Myself: The Smythson Zip Currency Case

Hot dang I’m excited! This is a major score!

My sister has been using a Smythson Currency Case as a wallet for some time now and I had never really paid attention to it until she gave one to our mother for Christmas. It was then that I had the opportunity to look at it more closely. I thought that the zippers were ornamental and that it was a plain pouch with one compartment, but there are actually four compartments distinguished by different colored zippers.

Pretty cool, right?

They are pretty great until you see how much they cost….$350.00+
I was not about to fork over that kind of crazy money for something so small so I started looking about on Poshmark, Tradesy and The Real Real. I got a hit!

A seller on Poshmark had a brand new pink croc wallet listed for $175.00 or something along those lines. That would have been a deal on its own, but I haggled the price down to only $100.00! Because I had been selling my own things on Poshmark, I was able to buy this wallet on credit I had on my account. I love being able to trade old items for something new and exciting. I also love that I never know what treasure I will find!

This is my Happy Valentines/Singles Awareness Day present to myself.

I just realized something. The last two items I purchased through Poshmark were both snake patterned. Maybe the tides are turning from my leopard obsession.

This J.Crew Collection blouse is the favorite top in my closet at the moment. I wear it at least once a week. I don’t know what this top would have originally been, but I bought it for $42.00. I had credit on Poshmark from selling clothes I no longer wear and so I ended up only paying around $28.00 out of pocket.

My sister has put me on to French Sole New York (FSNY) shoes. She wears them to work and can walk through the city comfortably. I do a good bit of walking on uneven surfaces and since being on crutches, my usual heels are no longer an option. In addition to a black pair of FSNY shoes purchased this year, I bought these snake skin flats for $45.00. Again, I had credit from my own Poshmark sales so I only spend about $15.00 out of pocket.

I absolutely love being able to trade in things I never wear for fresh new items!

If you haven’t tried Poshmark, check it out! Check out my “closet” also! There are so many great deals to be had on this site. They have a really great app too.

I haven’t really gone shopping in the traditional sense or ordered much of anything online in a while. I have picked up a few nice pieces from Poshmark.

  • J. Crew Sequin Dress – Purchased for only $40. My sister is getting married and I plan to wear this to one of the parties leading up to the wedding.
  • J. Crew Jacket – I purchased this jacket for only $40! It was in perfect condition.
  • J. Crew Brown Slingbacks – I have a beautiful Teri Jon formal dress that I haven’t been able to wear in years because I didn’t have shoes to go with it. Problem solved! I scored these gently worn heels for only $10!
  • Michael Kors Heeled Sandals – These have been on my liked list on Poshmark for some time. When I saw that they were reduced, I pounced. Such a classic and timeless look.
  • Tory Burch Top – I LOVE this top. It is cotton on the front and has a patterned silk on the back.
  • Tory Burch Navy Minnie Flats – I paid $250+ for my other pair of Minnies and was over the moon that I could pick up a pair second hand for only $56! I wear these almost every day.

It’s been a month or so since I posted about my Poshmark finds, so let me get you caught up.

J.Crew Cabled Cashmere Sweater $18.00
Jack Rogers Nude Sandals $74.00
J.Crew Tweed Jacket $40.00

Summer is a great time to buy winter clothes because they are all on sale! I am always keeping my eye out for the reduction notices on Poshmark for additional savings.

My go to Jack Rogers sandals finally kicked the bucket last week after having been resoled twice and so it was time for a new pair. I found these never been worn Jacks for only $74! That’s a savings of about $30.00. Not bad!

I have been through some ups and downs with my britches lately. My favorite pair of Ponte Pants blew its zipper and now my two pairs of good jeans have broken belt loops.

I have regained some ground on the work pants side of things, but I have had trouble finding jeans that are long enough. On a whim I entered “32 inch inseam” into Poshmark and found some really great options.

I scored this pair of Vince jeans for only $43.00! They are so very soft and light weight, which makes them perfect for the warmer months.

I also found this pair of Paige jeans on eBay in perfect condition for less than $50.00! The fit is just right and they would have cost me close to $200.00 if I had bought them in a store.

I have been doing a lot of shopping lately, but I have spent very little thanks to eBay and Poshmark. It’s easy to buy and to sell! Check out the items I have available on both sites!

When I lived in Ireland as a child, my mother had to explain to me that not everyone appreciated second hand items. She said the Irish were a proud people and even those who may not have much at all might not wish to receive second hand clothes, books, etc. That was so foreign to me. As one of three (American) children we passed everything up and down and when we outgrew things we shared them with family friends. I never turned up my nose at second hand clothes and feel that i am fortunate to be able to share clothes and shoes with my mother, sister, grandmothers, great aunts and distant cousins and the sharing goes in all directions. Just because we no longer enjoy something doesn’t mean that someone else may not find joy in it.

I even enjoy buying second hand on eBay and Poshmark.
You never know what treasures you will find!

This week I have been flat on my back recuperating from an ankle injury and I have had plenty of free time to play around online and it has gotten me into a bit of trouble. I have been pouring over listings on eBay and Poshmark and have gotten some closet refreshing items for a bargain.

It all began with these Stubbs & Wootton espadrille wedges. I found them on Poshmark and purchased them for a song! They look like they have never been worn and I will enjoy them for ages. Of course, I have to let my ankle heal first.

Next purchase was this beautiful blazer from J.Crew.

This Regent blazer is so flattering and I now own 3 of them! I purchased a gold one on Poshmark a while back and have worn it endlessly. I just purchased a brand new white linen blazer during a sale and now have this black one to balance them out.

My third purchase was these Franco Sarto slingbacks. I picked up a pair of these about 4-5 years ago at TJ Maxx and wore them until they completely fell apart. I had them repaired by a shoe shop once and then let them go when they fell apart the second time. I have missed these shoes terribly and was over the moon when I found a never been worn pair on eBay. They are simple and cheap and I LOVE THEM. I think these were a spoof on a pair of Kate Spade cork slingbacks that came out around the same time. Real deal or not, it’s a good look.

If you haven’t tried Poshmark before, check out my page. I buy as well as sell.
