FORGOT ONE!

I forgot to mention one of my recent Poshmark purchases on my last post.

This beautiful silk top by J. Crew was only $19.00!
It is perfect under a black blazer or on its own with a pair of black slacks. I wear it to work all the time.

Seriously. If you haven’t checked Poshmark out yet, you need to.

POSHMARK HAUL

I haven’t really gone shopping in the traditional sense or ordered much of anything online in a while. I have picked up a few nice pieces from Poshmark.

  • J. Crew Sequin Dress – Purchased for only $40. My sister is getting married and I plan to wear this to one of the parties leading up to the wedding.
  • J. Crew Jacket – I purchased this jacket for only $40! It was in perfect condition.
  • J. Crew Brown Slingbacks – I have a beautiful Teri Jon formal dress that I haven’t been able to wear in years because I didn’t have shoes to go with it. Problem solved! I scored these gently worn heels for only $10!
  • Michael Kors Heeled Sandals – These have been on my liked list on Poshmark for some time. When I saw that they were reduced, I pounced. Such a classic and timeless look.
  • Tory Burch Top – I LOVE this top. It is cotton on the front and has a patterned silk on the back.
  • Tory Burch Navy Minnie Flats – I paid $250+ for my other pair of Minnies and was over the moon that I could pick up a pair second hand for only $56! I wear these almost every day.

BEIGE

I’m trying to simplify my wardrobe. I’m going to be holding on to more neutrals and buying less busy prints.

The real purpose of this post is to tell you about my new shoes. These Tory Burch flats are a revelation. I used to have a bunch of Tory Burch Reva flats and, let’s be honest, they were not comfortable. Tory Burch has won me over all over again with her new show The Minnie.

Oh my gosh they are comfortable! I was in Monkees of Blowing Rock in late August and tried on a pair just to see what the sizing was like because the Reva wasn’ quite true to size. I had planned to check my size and then put them on my wish list for my birthday. As soon as I put them on, I was a goner. I bought these wonderful Minnies in Light Oak. I’m totally obsessed now and would totally replace all of my other Tory Burch flats with these. If you haven’t tried them, you need to. They fold in half and slip into a little bag for travel. Just plain wonderful.

AUGUST WISH LIST

Out of the items on my list last month, I purchased an Akola necklace (x2, great sale!), a Barbara Gerwit dress (another great sale!), and I am striking the Apple Watch off of my list because I bought a new little Fitbit instead. It was absolutely the right choice.

Custom Ring – I went to try on my new ring over the weekend and it’s still not quite ready. This process has taken way longer than I had hoped, but I can’t wait for the final result!

New Computer – This is still on hold. I’m going to wait a bit now that I am settling into new car payments.

There’s nothing else on my wish list at the moment, but I’m sure that will change come September!

BLOWING ROCK

A couple of weekends ago, I took a short trip to the little mountain town of Blowing Rock, NC. The town hasn’t changed much as a whole, but the shops have improved significantly and I really enjoyed sticking my head in every one of them. The air is cool there, which makes the flowers last so much longer and beautifully arranged planters and flower beds are everywhere.

I fell in love with a tiny store called Take Heart that happens to be in one of the oldest buildings in the town. They sell flowy tunics, night gowns and little rememberances. I purchased a super cute top ($29.50/could only find the yellow version online), white bon bon ($17.50/not pictured) earrings and a Lulie Wallace lunch pale ($17.50).

Down the way, I popped in Finley House Couture and fell in love with these Susan Shaw earrings. Because I work at a resort built around Equestrian Sport, I had to have them.

I also stopped in a quirky store called Mrs. Brumbles. It was full to the brim with victorian lamps, jeweled figurines and positively littered with funky jewelry. What really caught my eye were the small selection of shawls. They looked just like the cashmere poncho/shawls you would find in a really fine boutique, but they were acrylic and only $30! Of course I bought two… one pale green and one red. I don’t have photographs of them so I will have to post about them when I wear them next.

Blowing Rock is a super cute place with fun restaurants and the scent of fresh fudge billowing rom their centrally located Kilwins can be smelled all over town. It’s a great place to cool off in the summer and a very pleasant place to take a stroll. I’m going to be spending more time there in the summers now that I know how easy it is to get to!

BETTER THAN EXPECTED

A couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of earrings through an Instagram sale.
They looked cute in the photo but I wasn’t too impressed when they arrived. It turns out that they are actually pretty great.

Apologies for the dumb selfie.

I wore them for the first time over the weekend and I’m in love!
They were perfect with my teal piped sweater!

Keep an eye on this vendor through Instagram.
You never know what might pop up!
